In each case, inventory/map crashes persisted unless a page file was created. I tested both games on clean OS installs with all the updates + the latest drivers, etc. It also crashed a lot when inventory/map was accessed and 100MB page file resolved the issue. There is one other game with identical inventory-access crashes - Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Creating a 100MB page file resolved all the inventory crashes. Therefore there is no need for a page file, but this game has a tendency to frequently crashes when inventory/map is accessed if there is no page file. My monitoring software shows Far Cry 5 doesn't use much RAM and there is plenty of available RAM even during heavy gameplay.

I have 8700K 5.Ghz with 16GB of RAM, SSD's, GTX 1080 Ti, and optimized OS with no heavy processes running in the background, aside from Ubisoft (obviously), RivaTuner, and MSI Afterburner. I also don't understand why this game crashes if page file is disabled. Why? Since Windows 1607-14393 didn't have FSE optimization, does it mean the game cannot be played on it? Why can't FSE optimization be turned off for it?

Disabling FSE optimization can often resolve some issues and stutters, BUT Far Cry 5 and Far Cry: New Dawn won't even start if FSE optimization is disabled.

Windows 10 builds after Anniversary Update (1607-14393) began using Fullscreen Exclusive Mode Optimization that can be disabled via compatibility tab options for whichever.
